Wintervergnügen

What is Wintervergnügen?

It means "winter fun", and that's what you will find at the Wintervergnügen Pond Hockey Classic & Winter Festival Saturday January 26th in Waupaca.

From 10AM to Dusk at South Park, enjoy pond hockey, curling, broom ball, ice fishing, ice sculpting, ice skating, ice carving, snowshoeing, plus food, beer and fireworks at the end of the day. There will also be a candlelight cross county skiing at Hartman Park from 5PM-8PM.

Bald Eagle Watching

Did you know there are bald eagles in Wisconsin?  If you enjoy seeing these majestic birds in their natural habitat check out the 25th Bald Eagle Watching Days January 13th and 14th in Prairie du Sac. 

Friday events begin at 7PM with a live birds of prey show by the Raptor Center from the University of Minnesota at the Sauk Prairie High School.  Saturday will feature a release of a rehabilitated eagle by the Raptor Education Group.

It's Cranberry Time

Learn about our state fruit and enjoy delicoius treats as the 39th Annual Cranberry Festival in Warrens kicks off this Friday.

Peruse throught over 850 arts and crafts stalls, and a flea market with over 350 vendors, and over 100 farm market booths. If you feeling competitive there are a variety of contests: Create a Scarecrow, the Biggest Berry, video and photography of this year's festival, a vegetable & sunflower contest, a flower show, quilting and needlework, and more.

But most important are the marsh tours, where you can see the cranberry bogs and how they are harvested! And a visit to the Wisconsin Cranberry Discovery Center.

And the food - lots and lots of wonderful food. Pork Sandwiches, pizza, burgers, spaghetti, pancakes and many great cranberry items, but also Chocolate Covered Cheesecake on a Stick!

ArtRageous Weekend

If you like art - this is the weekend to be in Wausau.

Artrageous Weekend was voted the #1 Art Festival by AmericanStyle, and there are actually three events:  Festival of the Arts, Art in the Park and Birds in Art.  Free shuttle buses run between these venues, so you don't have to miss a thing.

Bastille Days

It's the 30th Anniversay for Bastille Days, North America's largest outdoor French festival held at Cathedral Square Park in Downtown Milwaukee. July 14th to the 17th enjoy music, food, wine tasting and more. You can even try to win a trip to Paris.

Ans it wouldn't be complete without "Storming the Bastille", which in Milwaukee is a 5K Fun Run.

The event runs 11AM-11PM Thursday through Saturday and 11AM-9PM Sunday, and is FREE!

Summerfest

The world's largest music festival - Summerfest - has begun in Milwaukee.

It runs 11 days, June 29th to July 3rd (closed July 4th this year) and July 5th to July 10th at the Henry Maier Festival Park on Milwaukee's lakefront.

11 stages with over 700 bands plus great food and family fun activities. Each day has different sponsored events, some with free admission or free giveaways.
